阿育吠陀(梵语:梵语:आयुर्वेद,转写:Āyurveda,意为“长生之术”[1])为印度教及佛教的传统医学[2],也译为寿命吠陀或阿苏吠陀。
在这种治疗体系中,人体被认为是自然不可分割的一部分,当身体与自然不调和时,人体的各项机能便会受到阻碍,进而导致生病。在阿育吠陀医疗方法中,主要有三种实施方法:药草疗法、推拿疗法及瑜珈疗法。
寿命吠陀主要包括三位古印度医学家的著作,即《遮罗迦本集》,《妙闻本集》和《语帅本集》。
阿育吠陀医学不仅是一门医学体系,而且代表着一种健康的生活方式。阿育吠陀(Ayurveda)由两个字组成:Āyur指生命,Veda为知识、科学之意。因此阿育吠陀一词的意思为生命的科学。
概说
阿育吠陀的神话是源自于印欧神话中的双马童(阿史沃因 Aśvin),即双胞胎医生,也是诸神殿的神,名为那瑟滴亚(Nāsatya)及德斯罗(Dasra)。四千年前的双胞胎医生的故事已经在土耳其的胡里安语及西泰语以及印度的梵语中失传了。阿育吠陀与阿达婆吠陀相比较,算是个次要的智慧。这四种吠陀(智慧)是世界上所知用印欧语言所留下来最古老的文件。
经典的阿育吠陀文件,是古代印度医典《揭罗迦本集》,与《阿达婆吠陀》约莫同时期。是在公元前一千年用梵语写成的,是全面性的医典。且大多数学者认为,阿育吠陀在西元一百年以前在印欧地区就非常的盛行了。
阿育吠陀在公元6世纪时,随着佛教的传布,影响的区域也越来越广。和尚将阿育吠陀带到中国、西藏、韩国、蒙古跟斯里兰卡,在这些国家的医学系统里留下传奇。
更近一点的是,德国将公元前一千年阿育吠陀的《妙闻集》翻译成德文,并运用在整型手术中。《妙闻集》中提到了阿育吠陀的八个分支:一般医学、外科、耳鼻喉及眼部疾病、毒物学、精神科、儿科、妇科、性学及生育学。
