在北韩駐有領事機構的國家分布

朝鲜民主主义人民共和国首都平壤目前駐有25國家大使館。這些大使館絕大多數位於城市的一個特定區域，被稱作紋繡洞使館區外交公寓[1]。其他部分國家則由其在北京、首爾、東京和河內的使館負責對北韩的外交事務。

由於沒有外交領事機構，平壤的瑞典大使館作為加拿大，澳大利亞和美國的利益代表[2][3]，同時為北歐其餘4國（丹麥，挪威，冰島和芬蘭）公民提供領事協助，還代表義大利，西班牙和北歐其餘4國受理簽證申請[4]。同時，平壤的英國大使館可以向任何沒有在北韩設有領事機構的大英國協國家的公民提供領事協助，但新加坡和坦尚尼亞除外，因為這兩國家退出了該協定。

一些國家的使館開放時期有所間斷，例如澳大利亞駐平壤的大使館曾於1975年開館，後來由於在一項聯合國決議中投票反對北韩而被迫閉館，儘管澳大利亞有意重開使館但是目前仍然沒有成功[5]。其他許多國家如阿爾巴尼亞、南斯拉夫、伊拉克、南葉門、利比亞、葡萄牙、斯里蘭卡和匈牙利也曾經在平壤擁有使館，但是關閉之後仍未恢復開館。

但是，很多西方國家在21世紀的第一年在平壤設立了大使館[1]，目前共有7個歐盟國家在平壤擁有大使館。巴西也於2009年7月在平壤設立了其大使館[6]，是首個在北韩設立大使館的南美國家。之後委內瑞拉在2019年8月在平壤設立大使館。

俄羅斯、中華人民共和國和巴基斯坦的使館不位於紋繡洞使館區內，並且面積也比其他國家的使館都要大。
