本信息框模板適用於人類聚落（城市、城鎮、村落等）的條目中，也可用於行政區、郡、省等等。實際上，任何國家以下的行政區都可使用本信息框。以下的表格將解說各參數的意義和使用方式。

使用方式

  • 注意：在使用#expr:計算的參數（例如人口、面積、高度等）輸入數值時，如果出現「表達式錯誤」，請使用「無格式」的數字，不要在中間加入「,」，例如應使用10000，而非10,000。（如問題已修正，可忽略本提示。）


參數名稱及描述

other_name 選填 其他名稱，有舊名或幾個名稱的城市使用，如孟買、西貢
native_name 選填 當地語言的地名（可用native_name_lang參數指明語言）。在name或official name下顯示（可能需要使用 模板鏈接：{{lang}} 模板）。
settlement_type 選填 可填任何類型，例如市、城市、鎮、村等。如果「name」參數也有填寫的話，此參數若有填寫則以顯示內容。如果population_metro、population_urban、population_rural其中至少一項有填寫，則settlement_type（或type）的填入文字會在「人口」段顯示代替「總計」。area_metro_km2、area_urban_km2等如有填寫，則settlement_type（或type）的填入文字也會在「面積」段出現。如果有需要，可另填total_type改變在「面積」、「人口」段的顯示文字。

如果留空，則使用Wikidata的#property:P31生成顯示文字。

total_type 選填 指定在「面積」、「人口」段的總數一行顯示哪些文字，例如填"大倫敦"就會以大倫敦取代「總計」或settlement_type的文字。未有填寫則設為空格，並造成總人口和「人口」二字在同一行顯示。
nickname 選填 有名的䁥稱
motto 選填 在䁥稱下方顯示格言
translit_lang1 選填 在Will place the "entry" before the word "transliteration(s)". Can be used to specify a particular language like in Dêlêg or one may just enter "Other", like in Gaza's article.

pushpin_map 選填 Category:地理位置圖模板或其子分類內的地理位置圖名稱，例如 Indonesia 或 USA California。地理位置圖的圖標位置由coordinates參數值或Wikidata的P625值（如coordinates參數留空）指定。如指定的location map不存在，會產生「表達式錯誤」。 不適用

地理資訊

面積項目提供自動單位換算，只要指定公制數值，就會自動產生英制數值，反之亦然。自動計算數值準確至小數點後1個數位。如果不想用自動轉換（例如想增加小數點後數位），可在相關項目填入想顯示的資料。

coor_pinpoint 選填 If needed, to specify more exactly where (or what) coordinates are given (e.g. Town Hall) or a specific place in a larger area (e.g. a city in a county). Example: Masovian Voivodeship Deprecated name =coor_type

人口資訊

各「密度」項目配有公制－英制的自動轉換，只要指定公制數值，就會自動產生英制數值，反之亦然。如果不想用自動轉換，可在相關「密度」項目填入想顯示的資料。如要自動計算密度，在任何「密度」項目內填 auto （準確度為兩個有效數字）。

微格式

本模板產生的HTML記號包含了HCard 微格式，能夠讓電腦解析地點名稱和位置，具有可自動將文章分類至適當類別的功能。在HCard中有Geo微格式，能讓電腦分析經緯度資料，因此可在地圖上查詢，或下載至全球定位系統（GPS）裝置。關於微格式的更多使用資訊。
