塞兰特期（亦被称为古新世中期）是古新世的第二个阶段，起止时间分别为61.6百万年前和59.2百万年前。该阶段处于达宁期和赞尼特期之间。有时,古新世被细分,在Selandian形成了“古新世中期”。
地层定义
Selandian接近底部的生物带NP4和NP5之间的边界。
Selandian的顶部(基于赞尼特)是被放在基于磁性年代C26n。
