Internet Explorer 10（簡稱IE10）是微軟開發的網頁瀏覽器，為Internet Explorer 9的下一代，也是Windows 8的預設瀏覽器。IE10在IE9的基礎上增強CSS3解析及硬件加速功能[1]，並支持HTML5。

在Windows 8中，其將分為兩個不同的版本，並使用不同的用戶界面：其中新的Metro將不再支持插件，而傳統的桌面程序將仍然保留插件支持[2]。默認情況下，64位元Windows 8上的Metro IE 10將在64位元模式下運行[3]。

在2011年4月12日，微軟推出首個「IE10平台預覽版」，並只能運行於Windows 7[4][5]，而後續的預覽版只能在Windows 8上運行。預覽版在IE9正式版發布四周後就被釋出，因而有人認為這是在新一輪瀏覽器大戰下而採取高速發布周期[6]。

2020年1月將停止支持，不再提供任何安全更新[7]。

歷史

Internet Explorer 10最早公布於2011年4月12日美國拉斯維加斯的MIX11發布會上[8]。在這場發布會上，微軟展示演示版的IE 10和演示版的Windows 8[9]。而在同一天，微軟在Internet Explorer Test Drive網站上發布Internet Exploere 10的平台預覽版[1]。當時的預覽版只支持Windows 7，而後來的預覽版則只能在Windows 8上運行。測試版和候選發布版則都可以支持Windows 7[10]。

評論者對Internet Explorer 10平台預覽版發布的看法各有不同；然而他們指出，繼IE 9後很快發布（29天後）的預覽版將是微軟所說的下一代瀏覽器。當eWeek的唐·賴辛格（Don Reisinger）列出他對下一版本的功能請求時，PC Magzine的邁克爾·馬奇摩爾（Michael Muchmore）測試平台預覽版1在加載微軟及第三方套件時的性能及對HTML5的支持情況[11][12]。

在2011年9月13日，微軟為普通用戶發布Windows 8開發者預覽版，其中就包含Internet Explorer 10開發者預覽版（首個完整版的IE10）[13]。雖然在Mozilla Firefox、Google Chrome、Opera和Safari這幾個主要瀏覽器，IE是最後支持拼寫檢查的，但它卻開創桌面瀏覽器自動校正的先例[14][15][16][17]。Firefox的開發組織Mozilla如同微軟IE開發團隊以前所做的，在IE10隨Windows 8一同發布時向其贈送蛋糕祝賀。[18][19]

在2012年5月31日隨Windows 8 Release Preview發布的IE 10 Release Preview，引進了一些新的特性，如支持

  • 漸變（CSS圖像值和替換內容）, gradient
  • CSS動畫（animation）
  • CSS過渡（transition）
  • CSS變換（transform）
  • font-feature-settings屬性（CSS字體）
  • 索引數據庫API
  • 基於腳本的動畫的時間控制

等功能的無前綴形式。IE10 Release Preview是最新規範的第一個公開無前綴實施。但為確保與使用Windows 8 Consumer Preview開發的網站和應用的兼容性，IE10仍將繼續支持這些（IE 10 Consumer Preview所採用的）標準使用Microsoft供應商前綴（‑ms‑/ms）的供應商前綴形式。[20][21]

IE 10 Release Preview還增加了提供PNG磁貼圖像並指定磁貼背景顏色的功能。這可以提供更高分辨率的視覺效果，以便通過用戶的固定網站磁貼更好地展現網站品牌。[22]IE 10 RP也新增了一些其它特性，包括從所有的模式中（而不僅僅是IE 10標準模式）均刪除了舊的DX filter，同時可在默認情況下向網站發送「不跟蹤」的信號，幫助用戶保護其私人信息。[23]此外，Chakra的性能同樣得到了優化，如浮點數操作比IE 9快50%。[24]
