死亡丧钟(英语:Death Knell)是教堂里在有人去世后敲响的三次中的第二次。以英国来说,它前面一个为Passing Bell(临终之钟)[1][2],在临死时敲响;后面一个为Lych Bell或Corpse Bell(葬礼之钟),在举行葬礼时敲响[3][4],后者也就是今日丧礼中的丧钟。按19世纪时的传统,死亡丧钟要在牧师得知信徒逝世后马上敲响。但是若此时已经入夜,那么则在第二天一早敲整整一小时的死亡丧钟。[5][6]
