ActiveMovie是一種流媒體技術，現在稱為DirectShow，由微軟開發，用於替代Windows的默認視頻解碼器。ActiveMovie允許用戶查看通過Internet、Intranet和CD-ROM分發的媒體。
開發歷史
ActiveMovie最初於1996年3月宣佈，[1]第一個版本於1996年5月發佈，與Internet Explorer 3.0的測試版捆綁在一起。[2]
安裝 ActiveMovie後，開始菜單中添加了一個選項以啟動ActiveMovie控件。ActiveMovie允許用戶播放多媒體文件，因此是一個基本的媒體播放器。
1997年3月，微軟宣佈ActiveMovie將成為DirectX技術集的一部分。[3]但在七月時，ActiveMovie被DirectShow的開發所取代。[4]
Windows Media Player 5.2版將在安裝時從開始菜單中刪除ActiveMovie Control圖標。微軟在其網站上提供了恢復圖標的說明。[5]
