诚信是指诚实的做法，并表现出对道德、伦理原则和价值观在思想和行动上的一贯和不妥协的坚持。[1][2][3]“诚”是诚实，“信”是有责任心、信用。相反的，无诚信者是伪君子或真小人。有关诚信，在古今各地都有谈及，包括伦理学、宗教、专业操守、人事管理及政治学《君王论》。
对于诚信，受众对之有较高要求，包括律师、会计师、教师、牧师、银行家、公众人物、政治家等，信用能转换成金流的职业。诚信在法学上的具体表现就是诚实信用原则，简称诚信原则。
